Berkshire Trophy Glory for Aaron Moody After Stunning Hole-in-One

Aaron Moody has claimed the Berkshire Trophy in sensational fashion, carding a remarkable hole-in-one on the way to a dominant five-shot victory. The 17-year-old England Boys’ Squad member from Surrey finished on 271 (-16), with 21 birdies and four eagles across the four-day event — a performance that announces him as a serious name in amateur golf.

Berkshire Trophy Win Built on Blistering Ball-Striking

The 72-hole tournament opened across Berkshire Golf Club’s Red and Blue courses for the first two rounds, before switching exclusively to the Red for the final two. Of the 162 players who entered, a halfway cut whittled the field down to just 49. Moody posted rounds of 67, 66, 68 and 70 to leave nearest challenger Cole Self well in his wake.

“It’s unbelievable to get the win,” Moody said, “but I was feeling confident coming into it as I’d had some good rounds of late. It’s definitely my biggest achievement to date. The putter got hot on the first day, and I played solid golf on the final morning.”

The Hole-in-One That Sealed the Deal

As if the scoreline wasn’t emphatic enough, Moody — who plays out of Burhill Golf Club — produced a stunning hole-in-one on the par-3 10th in the final round, striking a 7-iron from 190 yards to find the cup. “The hole-in-one on 10 this afternoon really helped,” he admitted. There was only one downside. “Sadly I lost the ball a few holes later!”

Celebrations were kept grounded, meanwhile. “I had a very nice cheeseburger and a coke to celebrate!” he grinned. Rather than the trophy itself — which he confessed would be far too large for his bedroom — Moody takes home an engraved silver salver that he reckons will sit nicely on his shelves.

Impressively, the Surrey teenager isn’t resting on his laurels. He turns his attention immediately to the Brabazon Trophy at Moortown this week, targeting back-to-back titles. One to watch. Absolutely.
