Pedro Porro Signs New Deal Keeping Him at Spurs Until 2031

pedro porro new contract

Pedro Porro has signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2031. The right-back was heading into the final two years of his previous deal, and despite serious interest from some of Europe’s heaviest hitters, he has chosen to stay in north London. An option for a further 12 months is also included in the agreement, according to the Press Association.

Pedro Porro New Contract: A Statement of Intent from Spurs

This is a significant move from Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi, who has wasted no time reshaping the squad after steering the club clear of relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign. The Italian boss has been effusive in his praise for Porro, and you can see why. The Spaniard made 47 appearances during a deeply difficult season and was one of the few players who consistently turned up when it mattered.

De Zerbi said: “Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations. As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve, and these are the characteristics that help players reach the highest level.”

Furthermore, the manager made clear this is about more than just keeping a squad player happy. “We believe in Pedro,” De Zerbi added, “and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”

The Numbers Behind the Deal

Tottenham originally signed Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon for £39.5 million back in 2023, and that investment looks increasingly shrewd. The 25-year-old has racked up 13 goals and 26 assists in Spurs colours and reached his 150th appearance for the club in last month’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United. Through multiple injury crises at the Lane, he has been one of the most dependable names on the team sheet.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ summer activity extends well beyond this renewal. Free agents Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have already been brought in, and Tottenham have submitted two bids for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, both of which have been rebuffed. Brighton, in turn, have now shifted their focus towards Spurs youngster Luka Vuskovic, lodging a £30 million offer on Friday — which Tottenham promptly rejected. The transfer chess match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is only just getting started.
